About the Journal

The Revista Ibérica do Direito (RID) is a scholarly journal published by the Instituto Iberoamericano de Estudos Jurídicos (IBEROJUR), based in Porto, Portugal. The journal promotes the production, dissemination and critical discussion of legal scholarship, with particular attention to the connections between the legal traditions of Portugal, Spain and Latin American countries.

RID provides an academic and scientific forum for dialogue between different legal systems and research communities, with particular emphasis on Comparative Law and interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches to contemporary legal issues.

The journal publishes original scholarly contributions, particularly research articles, that demonstrate academic relevance, methodological rigour, theoretical consistency and a meaningful contribution to legal scholarship. RID welcomes research across the fields of Public Law and Private Law, including studies addressing national, European, Ibero-American and international legal issues.

The journal has an international orientation and welcomes contributions from researchers from different countries. Manuscripts may be submitted in Portuguese, Spanish, English, Italian and French.

Editorial Process and Peer Review

Manuscripts submitted to RID undergo an initial editorial assessment and, when considered suitable for the journal's scope and requirements, are submitted to peer review in accordance with the journal's editorial and review policies.

Revista Ibérica do Direito uses a [double-blind] peer-review process to ensure the academic quality, originality, and rigor of the works published by the journal.

After submission, all manuscripts undergo an initial editorial assessment to determine their suitability for the journal's scope, submission requirements, and basic standards of academic quality and integrity. Manuscripts considered suitable are sent to at least two independent reviewers with expertise relevant to the subject of the manuscript.

Reviewers evaluate manuscripts confidentially, objectively, and impartially, considering, among other aspects, the originality and relevance of the topic, the quality of the theoretical framework, methodological adequacy, clarity of argumentation, consistency of the results or analysis, and the manuscript's contribution to the field of Law.

Reviewers must disclose any conflict of interest that may compromise their impartiality and must not use or disclose unpublished information obtained during the review process.

Based on the reviewers' reports and its own assessment, the Editorial Team may accept the manuscript, request minor or major revisions, or reject the submission. In cases of substantial disagreement between reviewers, the Editorial Team may request an additional review.

The final decision regarding publication is the responsibility of the Editorial Team and is not determined solely by the reviewers' recommendations.

Authors may appeal an editorial decision when there is evidence of a significant procedural error, factual error, or conflict of interest that may have affected the evaluation. Appeals should be submitted to [email protected]

Revista Ibérica do Direito is committed to maintaining a fair, transparent, confidential, and independent peer-review process, in accordance with international best practices in scholarly publishing.

 

Publication Ethics and Research Integrity

RID follows principles of publication ethics, research integrity and good editorial practice, applicable to authors, reviewers and members of the editorial team. The journal does not tolerate plagiarism, fabrication or falsification of research, redundant publication or other forms of unethical scholarly conduct.

International Scope

Although rooted in the Iberian legal tradition, RID has an international orientation and seeks to promote scholarly exchange among researchers and institutions working within different legal systems.

The journal places particular emphasis on comparative research and scholarship fostering dialogue between Portugal, Spain, Latin America and the European legal space, while also welcoming contributions from other jurisdictions and legal traditions.
