The legal regime of teleworking in Portugal

Currently, going to work may not mean a trip to the production unit or the employer’s office. The provision of work can be developed outside the company and using information and communication technol- ogies. This new type of work that takes place in the area of services and intellectual production is multifaceted and entails benefits and disadvan- tages for the worker and the employer, as well as for the general society. Despite some criticism stemming from the wording of some precepts, Portuguese labour legislation has been able to monitor and regulate the phenomenon of teleworking.
